Bye Bye March and Hello April! I am so excited to get stuck into another month of reading and a new set of books. March was an amazing reading month for me and I read so many great books that I would recommend. Despite it being a month of changes for me in education and employment, the only certainty I had was to come home and lose myself in a good story and cuddle up with a warm cup of tea. I always love escaping a stressful day or week by getting lost in the amazing world of a book and therefore I cannot wait to start April’s book list. March saw me buying a record of only 7 books, the smallest purchase in books I think I have ever made. However April will have a massive two, maybe three part haul to look forward too while I impatiently wait for all of the deliveries.
For the nitty gritty part of the month I have read 7 books as I haven’t finished Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins or The Vincent Brothers by Abbi Glines. However 7 is one more book than the previous two months which is great progress in my reading. When I set up my goodreads account for this year I set the target of 30 books to read in one year but having read 19 books in the year so far, the target would have been reached in a matter of months. To make the year’s target more challenging I have now doubled it to 60 books in the year and am currently aiming to beat it. I still want to enjoy reading and not make it in any way stressful or competitive but I think this will motivate me to expand my reading choices and start to tackle my TBR shelves.
Below is the list of books I read this month with a link to the review I uploaded to accompany them. Most of the books I read this month I would recommend and there is at least one book for every reading preference so why not have a look at the one that attracts you by the cover and maybe you will find something new to read. I will also include a link to my minimal March Book Haul which gives a list of the books I bought throughout the month and what they are about, no doubt some of them will appear on my April TBR.
I managed to at least add to my reading challenges this month too although I didn’t do as well as I’d hoped. I read another 2 dystopian books in March bringing the total this year to 6 books. I originally decided to challenge myself to read between 7 and 12 dystopian books this year because it is a genre I am unfamiliar with however, I reckon I will fly past those figures in no time. In March I also read 2 books over 450 pages bring my Chunkster reading challenge to a total of 6 out of the original 10 I had challenged myself to this year. I think this is another challenge I will tackle pretty early on this year but atleast this will show me what I am capable of when I chose my reading challenges next year. As for my freebies challenge, it is currently non-existent and I really need to start it but if you would like to check out the challenges I have picked for this year you can look at my Reading Challenges post uploaded in January.
In each Monthly Wrap Up I include a list of the books I plan on reading in the following month, however this will always be a guideline as I can’t always predict the mood I will be in and what book will appeal to me at the time I start a new one. With this in mind for April I am only going to be choosing 4 books that I want to read this month leaving me some spontaneous choosing for the rest of the books next month. Below are the books I definitely want to read, if you click on the title or picture you can find out a bit more about them.
Hope you all have a great reading month and if there are any books you would like me to read and review leave a comment!
