So we have reached the second part of my April Book Haul and I think I can finally say the book buying ban I was supposed to start this year was never going to happen and I should stop expecting it to ever happen. I bought the majority of these books thinking my Amazon wish list would reduce in size, but straight after when I checked the list it was still in the hundreds and I think I ended up coming across more in the suggestion sections rather than buying the one’s I had saved in my list. Either way I hope you enjoy the second part of this haul and like before, feel free to leave a comment if you have read one of the books, would like to or would like to see one featured in next month’s reviews.
The Maze Runner – James Dashner
I ordered the full series of this book after reading so much about them. How readers were reminded of them when reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins or Divergent by Veronica Roth. It goes without saying that not only were there good things about this series but also the author and what better book to start with that his most renowned, The Maze Runner. I haven’t even read what the rest of the books are about in case they spoil the first one so I am oblivious to the rest of the plot.
The Scorch Trials – James Dashner
The Death Cure – James Dashner
The Kill Order – James Dashner
The Name of the Wind – Patrick Rothfuss
This book has dominated the booktube world and I have even stumbled across it in the blogging community. With the hype and a second book already in the shops I had to get my hands on it and hopefully get reading it at some point this year.
A book that explores the power of DNA and the possibilities of what the future could look like in 2150, the perfect book to add to my new found love of the dystopian genre.
I only spotted this series as the final book came out and thought I needed it in my life. Thank you booktubers for making me aware of this one as well.
The Ocean at the End of the Lane – Neil Gaiman
After finishing The Graveyard Bookby Neil Gaiman and really enjoying his writing style I wanted to read another one of his books and this one had been added to my wish list. I’m so looking forward to reading it.
Uninvited – Sophie Jordan
I have had my eyes on this book for a long time. The plot sounds so intriguing and exciting, an exploration of the kill gene and its true meaning, practically the first book on my list for this month’s haul.
These next two books were without doubt being bought when I decided to splurge on some books. I read Legend by Marie Lu last month and loved it but was left anxious to read the next instalment in June and Day’s lives. So happy to finally own the last two books, they will definitely be getting read soon.
172 Hours on the Moon – Johan Harstad
As a secret astronomy enthusiast, any book that involves space travel and exploration will appeal to me. When I stumbled across this book I immediately wanted to read it. Who wouldn’t enjoy three culturally different teenagers on a rocket to the moon with no idea about what they will find there.
Another book that is dominating the booktube community and falls into the dystopian genre as it is set in 2054. It seems to have everything a reader could want and so far I haven’t found a bad review. I have huge expectations for this book.
The Darkest Minds – Alexandra Bracken
This book has popped up all over the internet and Amazon has been hinting that it is something that I would enjoy for a few months now. My excuse is I buckled under Amazon’s suggestive pressure and added it to my cart, not that it is a vastly enjoyed read and that I needed it in my life.
Game of Thrones – George R.R. Martin
I don’t know what I can say about this that anyone doesn’t already know but I feel late jumping on this band-wagon. I have never watched the series, or read one of the books, however as horrific as that confession is I bought this book to enjoy the plot and hopefully grasp the storyline. I am hoping that my old age belief that the book is better will remain true to this series.
Amulet, The Stonekeeper – Kazu Kibuishi
My very first graphic novel and although it looks like a children’s book from the cover I did some research and this has been reviewed as one of the best graphic novels out there. Any recommendations in this genre would be welcome.
Now all I need is a lifetime supply of coffee and the ability to read 30 books at once. They all sound amazing and I can’t decide which ones to pick up first, with an already huge TBR list and this lot. If you would like to see any featured next month leave a comment and hopefully we can conquer my indecisiveness together.
