Whilst trailing through Amazon for the next best freebie for my kindle, I spotted this book. The cover was inviting and the idea of a murder mystery stopped me in my search. I was determined to read this ebook and rekindle my love of the mystery genre.
After reading the first chapter I was beginning to question my motives. The plot was short and sweet; I found it predictable and guessed the murderer within a few chapters. I also found it distracting and frustrating that the undeveloped short story bounced between the past and the present as the protagonist fought to find the truth.
Despite this, the plot moved quickly and it wasn’t a dull read. It could easily be read in one sitting but there is a lot of action in the short chapters and I found within the blink of an eye the book had ended. I couldn’t help but think as a reader I was thrown in the middle and left to find my own way out.
Overall I found the plot rushed, I also found it aggravating to come across some spelling and punctuation marks. I gave this book 2 out of 5 stars on goodreads, as I did enjoy it and found it capturing but the plot was short despite being fast paced and the spelling mistakes were distracting and unprofessional. In saying that though I do think it could have improved by being extended into a full length novel to build more suspense, mystery and drama, but as my first kindle freebie this year I am a little hesitant to read another.
I would recommend it if you are looking for something quick and light to read but if you are after a complicated, mind blowing murder mystery…avoid this one!
