TGIF Readers, I hope everyone has a weekend of lying in, snuggling on the sofa and reading ahead.
This weekend I am hoping to read like a maniac and catch up on the read-a-thon, I haven’t been reading as well as I’d hope. Then again this week has been a bit of a crazy one for me in all aspects.
I’m nearing the end of The Maze Runner by James Dashner and Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne so those reviews should be up over the weekend. I also finally got round to watching The Hunger Games and Catching Fire and it has pushed me to read the final book in the series. I am hoping to get starting Mockingjay this weekend as I am so excited to see where it goes for Katniss and Peeta. I was a little disappointed with the first movie as I felt it difficult to follow even having read the book. I also felt the use of flashbacks a little disorientating, at one point I thought the DVD was freezing. Did anyone else feel a little let down by the movie?
As for the second movie I was pleased, I thought they did a good job of portraying the storyline well although it’s a little disheartening the lack of emotions and relationship building. I stand by my original view that the books are better because you just can’t get the same in depth character relationships, personalities or suspense. Either way though I am excited to see what direction the third book goes in and how the movie portrays the plot.
Well that was a bit of a rant but onto the final read. If I have a chance I’m going to hopefully start Burial Rites by Hannah Kent. This is another book I am really looking forward to reading; the plot is set in Iceland which is a setting I have never come across before in a book and the murder mystery sounds intriguing. I wish I had a few days off to just read like a champion because it is frustrating that I have so many books to read and so little free time.
Anyway I hope everyone is having a successful Bout of Books, I am really enjoying participating in this one, I just wish I had more time for the read-a-thon. Either way I am going to give it my best shot! Have a great weekend everyone!

I’m reading ‘The Maze Runner’ as well and really enjoying it! ‘Catching Fire’ was my favorite book in the trilogy and I liked the movie much more than the first. I was a bit let down by ‘Mockingjay’ but I’m always let down by the last book in a series because it means everything’s over. And I don’t deal well with endings.
I just finished The Maze Runner today and wow, that was some ending, I’m so excited for the next one already! Lol I hate a good series ending too so no doubt I’ll feel the same way when The Hunger Games end 😦 are you participating in the Bout of Books #10? 🙂
I am not. I haven’t done a Bout of Books before and hadn’t heart of it until this last one. How often are they run and how long do they last? I might be able to do one this summer.
The Bout of Books #10 is running until Sunday night, this is the first one I have taken part in but its good fun, and a great excuse to read lots! 🙂 I’m not sure how often they run but I’d assume there are a few a year 🙂
I’ll have to look into the next one. I always need a good excuse haha
haha! Definitely! You can never have enough excuses! lol
