Such an amazing and emotional book that really shows the strength of love in all its aspects, from family and friends to that one person that holds you heart.
For those ladies that don’t want a soppy romantic but more chick-lit then anything by Lindsey Kelk will win your heart on Valentine’s Day. About a Girl had me rolling with laughter and envying the life of Tess as she takes off on the adventure of a lifetime.
This addictive series will have you staying up all night as America is chosen to compete in The Selection. America has a chance to marry the Prince and leave behind her life as a five in a society where people are defined by their abilities. However she is soon stuck in a love triangle and confused with her feelings as she is shown a world unlike the one she has known. As soon as I read The Selection, I was hooked and had to read the entire series.
Despite the cover and the festive vibes, this book is perfect for Valentine’s Day. I read this book back in December and fell in love with the characters. I loved the relationships in these short stories and they really reminded me of being young and falling in love. I immediately wanted to read this book after seeing John Green’s name on the front of it but after reading Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle’s stories I wanted to check out their work too.
The next three books are from one of my favourite authors who just knows how to capture every aspect of relationships. I genuinely recommend any one of these books because they are all written around different situations with intriguing characters and differing personalities. I loved all of these books and can honestly say I was sad when they ended. If you haven’t discovered Rainbow Rowell yet make sure you check her out.
I am a big fan of the classics that have shaped literature into what we have today. Nothing beats a good romantic classic and for me the way love is described in these books is heart wrenching. Nobody can deny falling for Mr Darcy or feeling weak at the knees at how Gatsby looks at Daisy. If you haven’t read these, pick them up and fall in love with a classic.
