So after last week’s Bout of Books I seem to be back on the reading track and my love of reading has been given that extra kick. I’m looking forward now to reading a few more books this week and getting back into the blogging zone.
This week I’m hoping to finish reading Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira, I’m really enjoying reading this book, however it is taking me longer than usual to read it with other commitments. Love Letters to the Dead tells the story of Laurel who is given the task of writing a letter to a dead person. Without ever turning the letter in, Laurel continues writing letters to those past away and who she feels can share her emotions. She tells them of her adventures and in a way they become someone for her to confide in. It’s an emotional plot and one I am thoroughly enjoying reading.
As well as this I’m hoping to read Persepolis 2 by Marjane Satrapi. I finished reading the first book in this series last week and since then I have wanted to read the second one. I am particularly interested to see what direction the plot goes in and how it goes for Marjane since leaving the conflict and her family behind. This is a real emotional and visual read as it tells of Marjane growing up during the Islamic Revolution and the effects on the people surrounding her. As it is a graphic novel, it has the visual aid which a accompanies the plots beautifully. Anyone interested in reading graphic novels should look into this series, it’s brilliant and also a great look into the revolution in Iran. I can’t wait to get reading more of Persepolis during the week.
This week I also want to start The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han, I am really looking forward to this book. It seems like the perfect Summer read and turning of age novel whilst Belly waits for summer coming round and a chance to see her friends again.
I’m looking forward to reading this week and hope everyone had a successful Bout of Books!
