Weekend Reads #58

Happy Weekend Readers!

I’m super fortunate this weekend because I am off work and I am planning on spending this time reading and doing a bit of housework. It may sounds boring to some but it’s heaven to me to have this time doing what I want to do.

I am hoping to continue reading the two books I started during the week, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Two very different books but I’m happy I started them because each appeal to how I’m feeling at different times throughout the week may it be dystopian styled genre or a coming-of-age plotline.

I’m also hoping to start one other book this weekend with my new found time and I am super excited to even have it in my hands. It’s Harper Lee’s Go Set A Watchman, I don’t know a lot about this book but if I’m honest I don’t want to know a lot about it before I read it for myself and make up my own mind.

The only facts I know are that it is set two decades after To Kill A Mockingbird and Scout is 26 years old and returning home. It is set during the tense times when civil rights are making changes and creating tension in the Southern States. Harper Lee created such a masterpiece with To Kill A Mockingbird that I am so excited to read this one despite what some people are saying about it. I think that no matter what way it pans out this book is going to make an impression and leave it’s mark.

So I have a very exciting weekend ahead of me and I can’t wait to wake up tomorrow morning and for the relaxing and reading to begin.

Have a good weekend readers!

That’s great!! I’m forever buying books but I do have a huge wish list on Amazon for those still on my TBR that I don’t have so I feel your pain! Lol 😀

At first I wanted to read “Go Set a Watchman” but then I changed my mind because of all the controversary around its publishing. I think it is best to go into it blind. Maybe I’ll pick it up a couple years later after the hype has died down. I enjoyed “Perks of Being a Wallflower” and am looking forward to reading “Ready Player One.” How do you like them so far?

Both books are very good so far, I just wish I had more time to read them! 😄 I heard some of the controversy around the book but not all of it, I was scared to look it up in case I came across spoilers. There have been lots of books that I haven’t picked up at the time they were released because of the hype too! 😀

I think it’s best to read up on the controversy afterwards because that might make you judge the story harshly while reading. Yea, the hype can be both good and bad.

Yea I totally agree, so far I am enjoying it, I prefer going into most books blind and making up my own mind 😊
