Everyone needs a little push in the right direction and being half way through October I know I need that nudge in order to get near my Goodreads challenge this year. Therefore I will be trying my best to take part in a few readathons this coming week. I love participating in reading challenges like this as it’s fun to do alongside the book community whilst also giving yourself a little personal challenge over a few days. So below are to upcoming readathons, if you would like more information, just click on the picture or title.
This takes place on Saturday 17th of October and as it suggests it lasts 24 hours, yes 24 hours of reading straight but at your own pace, if you need breaks that’s fine too. Now as I’m working on Saturday I’m going to have to start my readathon as soon as I’m home from work and continue reading through to the same time on Sunday. However with the time difference, it states on the website that those in the UK start there readathon at 1pm in the afternoon so I won’t be far behind.
A nice aspect of this readathon is you can ask for a cheerleader, someone to encourage you in your reading. If it gets tough you’ll have someone there cheering you on, keeping you going. Not to mention there are prize giveaways and challenges throughout the day, readers are encouraged to update their blogs, twitter accounts and anything else they’re using. Its spread over many social networks and is an all-round fun way of reading so why not give it a go.
This is a great blog to follow with readathons happening at different times throughout the year. With one beginning at 12am on Saturday 17th of October running right through to 11:59pm on 1st of November, that’s a great two weeks of reading. I like to personally challenge myself to read as much as I can over these two weeks and try to fit in as many books as I can.
This challenge will also include extra activities and there are currently giveaways running up to the event. You can join officially on goodreads and Facebook or even find the link on the blog. This readathon is available to readers of all ages and capabilities and it one I will definitely be participating in this month.
So if you’re like myself and love a good challenge or need that extra but of motivation why not try out these two readathons this weekend and see if you can knock a few books of your TBR shelf.
Good Luck Readers!
