The Walking Dead, Volume 6: This Sorrowful Life – Robert Kirkman,Charlie Adlard and Cliff Rathburn

This volume opened right in the mix of the main plot line, it was a fast paced, and anxious read as the reader doesn’t know what to expect around every corner.

I particularly liked this volume as it was full of action, suspense and tension. I didn’t know what was going to happen as each character was in some sort of danger. The novel jumped from scene to scene as some characters were in Woodbury, others were in the jail and some were taking care of unfinished business. Just as the reader thinks they’re out of the danger zone, the plot seems to get more intense and more action fuelled.

I couldn’t put this down as so much was happening and I just wanted to know what was going to happen. The characters seem to get a bit more determined and a confident, they know what they need to do and whats ahead so they get stuck into the task at hand.

Earlier in the series I read a volume that jumped back and forth and was very disjointed in the plot however the style of writing and the dialogue in this volume seemed much more structured. I enjoyed going from one character to another and seeing what was happening in each setting, before in the previous volume it felt like the dialogue wasn’t tied up properly before moving on. Compared to this volume it left the reader intrigued and ended the dialogue well before moving on.

At this stage, I have my favourite characters and those I’m wary about but as more are being brought in it makes the plot very interesting. At this point in the series the characters are tense, not sure what to expect and it’s creating waves in the relationships of the group. I am completely hooked on this series now as I’m not sure what to expect next I’m very excited to read more.

I gave this volume a 5 out of 5 stars on goodreads, it had everything I would have wanted in the graphic novel and more. If anyone hasn’t started this series, I would definitely recommend it.
