That was some week, am I glad to see Friday and the weekend. It is so true that the week drags in and your weekend is gone in the blink of an eye so make the most of it. This weekend in the UK is Mother’s Day and the clocks ‘spring’ forward an hour so there will be plenty to keep me occupied. I have a special surprise day planned for mum on Sunday so fingers crossed it all goes to plan because I think she will enjoy it.
This weekend if I can squeeze a few hours in on the sofa I am picking up When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. I saw Bill Gates recommend it on his twitter account and it got me interested in reading it, When Breath Becomes Air is the memoir of a neurosurgeon faced with terminal cancer.
It sounds interesting from the perspective of a doctor and his understanding of a terminal illness, going from daily life treating patients who are dying to sadly becoming one himself. I am really interested in reading this book and at the same time I can predict it will be an emotional read as I know he passed away whilst writing, all the same this memoir holds importance before I have even opened the front cover.
Well readers on that note I am off to enjoy and finish organising my weekend.
Have a good one and happy reading!
