Welcome to your monthly dose of motivation and to help spur on the page-turning for this month below are a few challenges you can participate in to reduce that TBR pile gathering dust. I think I am still trying to catch up on sleep from Dewey’s 24hr Readathon at the weekend but I can honestly say these are great opportunities to read a lot and with encouragement from fellow readers. If you want to check out the readathon websites just click on the title.
This month’s AYearAThon theme is rereads so any books you particularly enjoyed or want to reread now is the time to do it. Even better is that Goodreads have recently added the ability to reread a book on its site which is great because it can now go towards your reading challenge this year!
There are lots of discussions and threads for this challenge so head over to their page and take part.
This readathon is hosted by Denise Harwood over on YouTube and there are a few different ways to take part:
· Read 26 books coinciding with the alphabet
· Read a book for every letter in the alphabet, so the title has to start with a letter in the alphabet
· Read books so at the end of the month you will have touched every letter in the alphabet through the title or the author.
Head over to her channel to check out her TBR for the month!
This is one of my favourite readathons and one I have taken part in each year. Below is a blurb from the website so check it out!
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 8th and runs through Sunday, May 14th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 19 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
This challenge runs all year and each month you pick one challenge from the list so by the end you have completed all 12. More of a year long challenge but it’s never too late to join in and start reducing that TBR.
– Read 1,200 pages
– Start OR finish a series
– A 2017 debut author
– A short story
– A graphic novel
– A nonfiction book
– A book that has been on your TBR FOR 2+ years
– A book with multiple authors
– A book you picked because of the cover
– A book that has to do with traveling
– Someone else’s favourite book
– The first book on your shelf you haven’t read
I have crossed out the ones I have done so far and for May I am hoping to ‘Read a book that has been on my TBR for 2+years.’
Well readers I hope this helps you make the most of this month!
