What a week it has been travelling with work, if any of you follow my Instagram you’ll see I have had a fun time with a lot of cute animals. However when I wasn’t cuddling snakes I was working really hard which meant hardly any time for reading. I didn’t get reading as much as I’d hoped last week however I am hoping to start a new book this week. The book I want to start reading has been the centre of book conversations for some time and it’s The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas.
As this book focuses on police brutality and confronts racism it is a very topical read. It has caused a lot of discussion and has even been banned in some places in America such as a school district in Texas. From past novels such as Huckleberry Finn and To Kill a Mockingbird it is obvious that when a book makes a statement or opposes popular opinion it is banned. Clearly this book is a threat and can bring knowledge and shed light on the darkest minds. That is why I am particularly excited to be starting it this week. I have even read a few articles saying this book is being made into a movie and if there is any truth in it I know it’ll make it’s mark. If you have read it I would love to hear your opinion.
Well happy Monday readers, I hope your start to the week has been productive and just think we’re halfway through another month of 2018, we still have plenty of time to smash those reading goals.
