Good Morning Readers,
First I must apologise for my silence over the past week but I came down with a cold/flu that just took me from under my feet. I am starting to get better now albeit the blocked sinuses and box of tissues I am still carrying under my arm. I had wanted to write over the weekend and tell you all excitedly how I had started to read 3 very popular series, A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas, City of Bones by Cassandra Clare and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K Rowling. The Harry Potter book is a reread as you might remember from previous posts I want to read them all again this year.
Last week was torture because while I was ill my eyes were not cooperating so I couldn’t read as much as I’d hoped. My eyes were puffy and itchy and although we are back on good terms I still harbour some resentment for their weakness. However over the weekend I read and finished A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas and the only thing stopping me from running to the nearest book store to get A Court of Wings and Ruin it is the snow and the 20 miles between me and Waterstones. Every time I try to put into words how good that book was I just make strange creaking sounds because let’s be honest where do I begin? Please tell me this is normal and point me in the direction of the nearest support group. Anyway the big question is would I be cheating if I bought the book on Kindle because I can’t wait to read more or should I just wait and buy the book in a few days?
Onto other news WHY have I not read The Immortal Instruments until now? For those of you that have ventured into this series and ACOTAR, you will understand the sleep deprived struggle I am having right now from a weekend of tackling nail-biting fantasy. This series will probably keep me awake for the rest of March because I’ve now decided I just have to read them all and unlike ACOTAR I actually own them and have ignored them for at least 3 years…the shame.
Finally I always make a point of talking about the books I hope to start this week and I have heard a lot about Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series and the 4th book Restore Me as its release date approaches. Sadly this series is on my TBR shelf as well so I was thinking of picking up the first book and taking it for a spin. After my eventful weekend I am on a Fantasy binge so I might as well see what all the fuss is about. Not to mention how great is Tahereh Mafi, I follow her on Instagram and her wardrobe makes me feel like a walking flump so if her style is anything to go by no doubt her writing will be just as beautiful. If you have read this series let me know what you think, I’ll be in a corner somewhere silently rocking back and forth until I get A Court of Wings and Ruin.
