Daily Reads #133

Hi Readers,

So everything kind of went crazy for me towards the end of last week, I was super busy with stuff I didn’t expect to do and then at the weekend I was host to a Eurovision party so you can see where my time has been spent. Just in case you weren’t sure, you did read Eurovision Party because although the UK isn’t liked by many other countries the people living in the UK are mad about Eurovision. I think everyone has collectively accepted that the UK is not going to win and too many bridges have been burned but we continue to watch it. Personally I think my curiosity gets me and I have to watch it because you just don’t know what’s going to happen from one year to the next.

The Hate You Give

Enough about Eurovision and on to books, this week I finished reading The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas and it is such a powerful book. I’m starting to understand more why it was banned because it is so honest and displays a side to police power that the media seems to forget. I really loved reading this book and I can’t wait to review it for the blog.

What Happened

I also finished reading What Happened by Hillary Rodham Clinton and what she went through in the presidential election is shocking. How she managed to stay strong the entire time and not walk away is even more unbelievable. Not living in the UK I wasn’t as submerged in the election on a daily basis but I did read and hear a lot about it. Like many people worldwide I know who I wanted to win the election and who I think would have done a better job in keeping up a reputation for America but right now I feel that the population of the US represent their country better than the president.

During this week I want to read like I never have before because I have fallen behind in my reading challenge and want to get back on track. I’m going to focus on finishing up the books on my TBR and getting further into Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. I started this book around two weeks ago but haven’t dedicated a lot of time to it and the same goes for Cress by Marissa Meyer.

Cress

Well readers I have a busy week ahead of me but I don’t mind because I like having something to do. Check back for some book reviews later in the week!
